'I Shot Both My Kids': Texas Mother Charged With Capital Murder After Her Two Sons Are Found Shot Inside Mobile Home
Texas mother, Colleen Nichole Lemmon, was charged after two sons are found shot inside family home

A Texas woman has been charged with two counts of capital murder after her two sons, aged 21 and 15, were shot at their Waxahachie home and later died from their injuries, according to the Ellis County Sheriff's Office. An arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 4 says she allegedly told deputies: 'I shot both my kids.'
Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, was taken into custody after deputies responded to an emergency call in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive at about 4.13am on Thursday, 1 October 2026. Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, died at the scene, while his younger brother was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
Deputies Responded to Disconnected Emergency Call
A probable-cause account obtained by NBC 5 describes a disconnected 911 call that prompted the response. Dispatchers re-established contact with the caller, who said all units were needed before the call disconnected again.
Deputies entered the residence and found two males suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities initially withheld the younger victim's identity. NBC 5 later reported that his family had identified him as Brian Pitre.
Both victims were Lemmon's sons, according to the sheriff's office. She faces two counts of capital murder in connection with their deaths.
Affidavit Records Alleged Admission
According to the arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 4, deputies found Lemmon covered in blood, with what appeared to be self-inflicted cuts on her wrists and a handgun nearby. She allegedly told deputies: 'I shot both my kids.'
The sheriff's office said corroborating evidence recovered during the investigation gave authorities probable cause to believe Lemmon was responsible for the shootings. Authorities had not explained the circumstances leading to the deaths in the reports reviewed.
Lemmon was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. After her discharge, she was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center, NBC 5 reported.
Lemmon has not been convicted, and the charges against her have not been tested at trial.
Father Seeks Justice for His Sons
Scott Pitre, the brothers' father, told NBC 5 on Friday that his younger son had recently celebrated his 15th birthday. Pitre said he had spent time with him at a lake the previous Sunday to mark the occasion.
Pitre said he wanted to be a voice for justice for both sons. His comments came after the sheriff's office announced that Lemmon had been charged in connection with their deaths.
ounty Sheriff Brad Norman offered condolences to Pitre and other relatives in a statement following the shootings.
'My deepest sympathies go out to the victims' father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,' Norman said.
Social Media Users Respond to Shootings
Reports of the deaths prompted comments on X, including expressions of anger and comparisons with other cases involving parents accused of killing their children.
'I wish people would quit murdering their kids,' one user wrote. Another described the reported incidents as a 'new trend', although no connection between the cases has been established.
A third user compared the allegations against Lemmon with those against Lindsay Clancy in Massachusetts. That comparison was the commenter's observation and does not establish a connection between the cases.
The social media reactions do not establish Lemmon's guilt. Her case remains unresolved as the legal process continues.
