Britain will have its second female prime minister by Wednesday evening (13 July), but you could be forgiven for not knowing much about Theresa May.

The Home Secretary, 59, has been at the top of UK politics for more than six years and was crowned Conservative leader after Andrea Leadsom, her only rival, dramatically dropped out of the contest.

However, not much is known about May beyond her current remit. Her foreign policy views, stance on media and sports, opinion on the arts and business expertise remains somewhat of a mystery.

We do know May backed a Remain vote at the EU referendum and has declared "Brexit means Brexit" since the UK decided to split from Brussels. Here IBTimes UK politics reporter Ian Silvera and video editor Alfred Joyner answer your questions on May.
