Tony Hawk has revealed that new details regarding the next game bearing his famous name will be coming soon, and that fans of the original Pro Skater series will "rejoice".

The world-renowned skateboarding legend did so by sharing a video by Rob Wooton aping the series' character select screen. "I am sharing this now in honour of our next game having been accidentally "leaked" recently," he said. "THPS fans will rejoice. Details soon."

The leak he's referring too also came about through Instagram, when a cater proudly boasted his work at an event being held in a skating half-pipe, only to have accidentally included a projected screen depicting a logo for "Tony Hawk 5".

That wasn't the first we had heard of a new game, Hawk himself confirmed it was in the works last year when he tweeted that he whad been collaborating with Activision on a new console and mobile game he again said would please fans of Pro Skater.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater started life in 1999 and spawned three sequels over the next three years before the series became a Grand Theft Auto-style open world game with Tony Hawk Underground, its sequel and numerous follow-ups.

A HD remake bringing together courses from the first two Pro Skater games was released in 2012, and the series hasn't been seen from since. It appears that will change soon and it's looking increasingly likely that we'll see a return to the Pro Skater, level-based style.
