Update Galaxy Nexus I9250 to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop build LRX22C via AOSP ROM Android

Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250) finally receives the highly-anticipated Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update, thanks to the release of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) ROM by the industrious custom Android developers.

In spite of being an ageing device, Galaxy Nexus is among the lucky few Android devices to enjoy stock-like Lollipop features with AOSP ROM, as Google is unlikely to support or release Android 5.0 update on these devices.

The new AOSP ROM brings pure stock-like Android experience to Galaxy Nexus in a stable release that can be used as a daily driver.

Interested users can go ahead and install the latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update via AOSP ROM, using the step-by-step guide given below.

Pre-requisites

  • The instructions provided in this guide are limited to Galaxy Nexus GT-I9250 and will not work with any other model. Verify your device model from Settings > About Phone
  • Ensure your phone has at least 80% battery charge to avoid inadvertent shutdown during the installation process
  • Make sure the correct USB drivers (download here) are installed for the phone on the computer
  • Enable USB debugging on your phone from Settings > Developer Options.
  • Ensure that your device is factory unlocked and rooted via CWM or TWRP recovery, before you proceed.
