Episode 1 of the second season is titled Satellite Of Love, where Walter and Paige kill the sexual tension and kiss each other. In the episode, Paige reveals to Walter that she kissed him while he was recuperating in hospital, after which Walter freaks out.

A new trailer also shows them kissing, as the others in the team look shocked. The video features some dangerous scenes as Paige tells everyone, "This job puts us in an intense situation where emotions run high." Walter then cuts her off and kisses her, as Toby and Happy witness this and Sylvester says, "I am very uncomfortable right now."

According to executive producer Nick Santora, Walter and Paige will not decide to become a couple right away after the kiss. "As the season goes on, it makes for some complexity in their relationship," Santora told TV Guide. "The team has always lived by the idea of the greater good. Does [a romance] fall into the category of the greater good or does it put Scorpion at risk?" The official synopsis for the episode reads as follows:

The new Director of Homeland Security reunites the team when a nuclear powered Russian satellite is knocked out of orbit and must be diverted before it detonates over Southern California. Also, Paige and Walter must face their feelings for each other after hospital footage reveals Paige kissed him, on the second season premiere of Scorpion. Alana De La Garza guest stars as the new head of Homeland Security and KISS frontman Gene Simmons makes a cameo appearance as himself.
