Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone
Xiaomi Mi 5 could now be released in 2016, with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC on-board Reuters

Fresh details have emerged on Xiaomi's upcoming flagship Mi 5S. The leaks indicate that the device will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. This will make the Mi 5S one of the few phones in 2016 to have this advanced chip-set as most flagships including the Galaxy Note 7, S7 and even iPhone 7 are using the Snapdragon 820 processor.

The leak, which was ousted on Chinese social media site Weibo, showed an AnTuTu benchmarking screenshot that also indicated towards a 5.5-inch screen with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Although the Mi 5S possess the same screen size as the previously released Mi5, it will have more upgrades like 6GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage.

Very few phones in the market till now have a 6GB RAM and even though the Galaxy Note 7 was slated to have that RAM capacity it only came with 4GB RAM capacity. Having 6GB of RAM along with a humongous internal storage is sure to attract consumers towards the device which is expected to be moderately price as compared to other high-end flagships from companies like Samsung and HTC.

There were no details of camera specifications or battery capacity. The OS is, however, likely to get an upgrade as the device may come in-built with Xiaomi's custom MIUI 8 Global stable ROM.

Although there is no fixed date announced by the company for launch the handset, it is most likely to happen on social media or an online focused launch which will be based out of China, the company's home country. Xiaomi has always aimed at the budget mid-segment market with its models but emphasises on features introduced in flagships by Samsung, Apple and other global leaders so that customers can afford them at almost half the price.
