Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight will arm the Dark Knight with a new gadget: a gun called The Disruptor which causes the guns of his enemies to explode. In the gun-obsessed gaming world that might sound like satire, but it's not.

As well as making weapons explode The Disruptor can also jam weapons with a lower charge of its blast, rig weapons crates to shock enemies when they attempt to replenish their ammo and tag vehicles with tracking devices.

All of this was detailed in a post from the developers after the weapon was spotted in Arkham Knight's latest trailer, which was released in late April. You can watch that trailer at the foot of this story.

A statement describes the gadget as "tailored to meet the challenges of Gotham City," before going into more specific detail. "The Disruptor has three charges per engagement, requiring Batman to carefully select how best to use each charge in order to compliment his plan of attack."

It can also be upgraded for greater functionality, allowing Batman to hack and disrupt the turrets of the Drone Tanks he'll encounter.

Batman: Arkham Knight is Rocksteady's final game in their trilogy, which started with Arkham Asylum and continued with Arkham City. The game is set to be released on 23 June.
