Three British men have been sentence to four years each in prison after being caught possessing drugs in Dubai.

Grant Cameron and Suneet Jeerh, both 25, and Karl Williams, 26, of London, were found guilty of possessing a synthetic cannabis known as spice in July 2012 when the three were on holiday. The original charges of intent to supply, which would have carried a much harsher sentence, were dropped.

The men, who deny the charges, will be deported after serving their sentences. They claim to have been tortured by police following their arrest, saying that they had been subjected to beatings and threatened with guns.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron is to raise the case with the UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed during his two-day state visit to Britain, which begins on Tuesday.
