The 39th Daytime Emmy Awards saw television celebrities like Suzanne Rogers, Elizabeth Hendrickson, Judi Evans, Chrishell Stauce, Deborah Gibson and many others walk the red carpet in stunning colours and pretty gowns.

Diedre Hall arrived in a blue satin gown with a golden clutch while actress Heather Tom went flowery in a causal full length gown that had flower prints on it. Sharon Case looked stunning in red with a satin figure-hugging gown. Judi Evans struck a silvery note and Laura Wright kept it short this time, with a slightly greyer-toned silver dress teamed with a silver clutch and heels. Chrishell Stauce opted for bright pink while Lisa Rinna and Judith Chapman opted for black. Tifanny Coyne, Susan Lucci and Elizabeth Hendrickson opted for colours that stood apart. Meanwhile, on stage, General Hospital won the Emmy for Best Drama Series and the crew posed happily on the red carpet.

"For us, this is more of a family reunion than an award show. There's not so much riding on a win, so it's easier to celebrate," General Hospital's Kristen Alderson said .

There is, it is no secret, quite some competition between the Primetime and the Daytime Emmys. John Terenzio, executive producer of Jude Joe Brown, remarked both were equally important.

"If the Primetime Emmys are dad, then we're mom, in network TV, we do all the heavy lifting and we do it every day. And the kids love us more," Terenzio said.

Bill Geddie, executive producer of The View, received the Lifetime Achievement Award and during his acceptance speech, Geddie joked that the award was probably the industry's way of asking him to retire.
