GTA 6 Price Leak Sparks Fury as Retailer Reveals a Brutal New Cost for Gamers
Fans react to potential price hike for Rockstar's upcoming game

The long-awaited arrival of Rockstar's next masterpiece has been overshadowed by a sudden controversy regarding its potential cost. After a prominent shop posted an unexpected listing, fans are expressing their outrage over the premium they might have to pay for the title. This massive Grand Theft Auto 6 price revelation has left the community wondering if the leap in quality justifies such a heavy financial burden.
Speculation regarding the cost of GTA 6 has intensified after a shop's website shared a possible valuation for the anticipated title. Despite the lack of an official confirmation from Rockstar Games, this discovery has prompted fans to weigh in on whether the latest entry might debut with a significantly greater financial demand.
A product page found on the retailer Loaded has listed GTA 6 at roughly $124.19 (£91.86) for Xbox Series X and S. Interestingly, the site also features a PC version for around $84.19 (£62.27), despite the fact that Rockstar hasn't even confirmed the game is coming to PC at launch.
Placeholder Theories and the Mystery PC Version
Retailers often upload placeholder prices to prepare for pre-orders or to gauge public reaction before the real launch details arrive. As neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive have released any official data yet, GizmoChina suggests it is best to take these numbers with a pinch of salt. The appearance of a PC listing also stands out, as the studio has remained silent on whether the title will even be available on computers at launch.
The idea of a price hike is mostly driven by the sheer scale and cost of top-tier game development. Creating modern open worlds requires cutting-edge visuals, intricate AI, and constant online updates, all of which push budgets to the limit. With the market already moving toward higher price points, some experts think GTA 6 could establish a brand-new standard for what a basic edition costs.
Will Rockstar Break the Industry Standard?
Rockstar has a track record of launching blockbusters at the usual market price, relying on online features and additional content to generate more revenue later. Since the company has stayed silent, the reported $99.99 cost is still just a rumour. For now, it is best to view these pricing debates as mere guesswork rather than established fact.
In the meantime, users on the GTA 6 subreddit are busy sharing their thoughts on the recent price discovery. A specific post highlighting that the game 'has appeared on Loaded at £90 for the standard edition' sparked a massive reaction, racking up over 350 comments at the time of writing.
Community Backlash: 'I Can't Justify That'
'It's a placeholder,' one person posted. A second user agreed: 'Yeah that came to my Head as Loaded (Formerly known as CDKeys) usually puts a placeholder estimated Price until they get confirmation. Then they adjust the price accordingly.' Someone else suggested, 'We're gonna get Switch 2 game prices.'
Meanwhile, another wrote, 'Nah that's about a month of average salary in my country's weak a*s currency. I can't really justify that.' A different contributor argued: 'I mean if this happens people need to not defend that and do what they did when Outer worlds 2 was priced $80 so they can back it up to $70. If people accept that then all companies will make that the normal price for all games.'
A Long Wait for the Final Verdict
Whether these listings are accurate or merely temporary placeholders remains to be seen, but they have certainly touched a nerve within the gaming community. As the industry watches closely, the final cost of GTA 6 could represent a significant shift in how much we are willing to pay for premium entertainment. Until Rockstar Games breaks its silence, players will simply have to wait and see if the next trip to Vice City comes with a record-breaking price tag.
GTA 6 was supposed to launch in May this year. However, an update released by the brand a couple of months ago revealed it will go official in November 2026.
