Prince William has asked singer Taylor Swift to surprise his wife, Kate Middleton, on her birthday.

The Duchess of Cambridge will celebrate her 32nd birthday on 9 January. It will be Kate's first birthday as a mom and the second after marrying Prince William.

According to sources, the Duke of Cambridge wants to invite the US chart-topper singer to the UK for a meeting along with Kate after he was impressed by Taylor last month. William met Taylor at a charity event at Kensington Palace.

"William's been trying to get Kate's surprise sorted for 9 January when she turns 32," a source was quoted as saying by Closer Magazine, the Entertainmentwise reports.

"When he met Taylor Swift recently he asked her if there's any likelihood she's in the UK for the New Year, or just after, because he knows Kate's a fan and she's love to meet the singer," the source added.

If not Taylor Swift, then the royal couple could have other celebrity guests or friends for Christmas and New Year, the source speculates.

"There's talk of meeting with the Beckhams. William and David have been in touch since they worked on the Olympic bid together and they're going to be in London for part of the time, so there are tentative plans for a get together."

Christmas 2013 will be the first Christmas for William and Kate with their son, Prince George, who was born in July. And it is also quite likely that the young royal family would like to have some alone time.

"Like any new family, they're looking forward to having some alone time, but they also want to catch up with friends," the source said.

Is Kate Pregnant Again?

As Christmas nears, speculation about Kate Middleton's second pregnancy also rages as in September it was reported that William and Kate were excited over a sibling for George, and that the royal couple would be glad if Kate became pregnant by Christmas.

Insiders revealed that William and Kate would be splitting their time during the Christmas holidays with Kate's family and the Queen in Sandringham House in Norfolk, so it would be the perfect moment for an announcement of the Duchess of Cambridge's pregnancy.
