White House special assistant to the president and executive assistant to the president Natalie Harp has again drawn attention over her close working relationship with President Donald Trump, following renewed scrutiny of her presence alongside him during his midterm campaign travel and previously reported personal letters.

Harp travelled with Trump to Ohio on 3 October and was photographed returning to the White House aboard Marine One after the rally, as the president continues an intensive campaign schedule ahead of the November midterm elections.

Much of the scrutiny has focused on language in Harp's reported 2023 letters, published in full by The Daily Beast in August 2026 and attributed to her. In one passage, she wrote, 'You are all that matters to me. I don't want to ever let you down. Thank you for being my Guardian and Protector in this Life.'

Those excerpts have shaped much of the public conversation about Harp's role inside Trump's inner circle.

Midterm Travel Keeps Natalie Harp in the Spotlight

Trump is undertaking an intensive campaign schedule ahead of the 3 November midterm elections, with the White House reportedly planning appearances across 17 states. Harp has remained a regular presence during several of those trips, including stops in Nebraska and Ohio.

Some media reports have described Harp as a near-constant presence alongside Trump. She is frequently seen travelling with him and carrying the shoulder bag associated with her role.

She has also become known as the 'human printer,' a nickname linked to her reported practice of carrying a portable printer so Trump can receive physical copies of news reports and social media material.

Earlier this year, Harp also drew attention after she was among a small group of senior aides who accompanied Trump during a secretive transfer from Air Force One to a smaller aircraft in Turkey.

The Washington Post reported that Trump left Air Force One aboard a catering truck during the July 2026 trip because of a potential Iranian threat, with Harp, Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino and Oval Office operations director Walt Nauta among those accompanying him.

Letters, Loyalty and the Guardian and Protector Quote

The letters reportedly written by Harp in 2023 include an apology for losing focus during a trip to Scotland and Ireland, in which she wrote, 'I never want to bring you anything but joy. I'm sorry I lost my focus. You are all that matters to me. I don't want to ever let you down. Thank you for being my Guardian and Protector in this Life.' She signed another note, according to reports, 'With all my heart, Natalie.'

Those lines have featured in commentary and late-night coverage, including discussion by Jimmy Kimmel on 7 October. Georgia Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff has also criticised Trump's close association with Harp during campaign appearances. Trump's niece, Mary Trump, has also publicly described the relationship as 'creepy.'

Harp's association with Trump predates her current White House position. She gained national attention in 2019 after publicly crediting Trump's 2018 Right to Try law with helping her access treatment during her battle with bone cancer.

She later became a Trump campaign and political aide and officially joined his staff in 2022, according to The Independent. Harp has publicly credited Trump's 2018 Right to Try Act with helping her access treatment for bone cancer, although her account of how the law affected her treatment has previously been questioned by medical experts and The Washington Post. The Washington Post reported that medical experts questioned whether the law had affected her treatment because the drug she described receiving was already FDA-approved for another use.

Within the White House, Harp is listed as special assistant to the president and executive assistant to the president. She has been described by several media outlets as an important gatekeeper to the president, with reporting indicating she is often present in meetings and involved in communications work.

Marc Beckman, an adviser to first lady Melania Trump, has dismissed speculation about Trump's relationship with Harp as 'ridiculous' gossip. According to reporting in Regime Change, Trump has told people around him that Harp 'will never leave me.'

The White House has defended Harp's role, while criticism and speculation about her unusually close access to the president continue to circulate.

Some claims about Natalie Harp's private relationship with President Donald Trump are based on reporting, published accounts and attributed statements that have not been independently verified.

References to the nature of their personal relationship should therefore be understood as allegations, speculation or commentary rather than established fact.
