Kim Kardashian's Daughter North West, 13, Wants a 'Regular Job' at Starbucks

Kim Kardashian's daughter North West has said she wants a regular job at Starbucks. The 13-year-old told the autumn 2026 issue of Dazed she hopes to start next year, once she turns 14.

Asked what she would do if she were not an artist, and whether her childhood dream of playing professional basketball was still alive, North answered both.

'No, it's not. What would I be? I still wanna work. I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year. I think I can next year 'cause I'm gonna be 14, so... I think I can. I want to have a regular job, I guess,' she said.

North has spent almost her entire life in the public eye. Her mother attended the 2013 Met Gala while pregnant with her, and North was appearing at Paris Fashion Week by the age of six.

Why Turning 14 Would Not Be Enough

There is one obstacle. Turning 14 would not be enough to land the job she has in mind. Starbucks sets its own minimum hiring age in the United States at 16 for barista and other entry-level store roles, above the federal floor of 14.

In California, where North lives, the general working age is 14 with a permit, but that does not override the chain's own policy.

Starbucks baristas in the US typically earn around $15 to $17 (£11 to £13) an hour. Security would be a further hurdle, as the daughter of two globally famous parents rarely appears in public without protection.

A Self-Produced EP and a Cancelled Tour

North's move into music has built up over two years. She featured on the ¥$ single 'Talking / Once Again' in 2024, released 'Piercing on My Hand' in early 2026, and performed alongside her father at a sold-out Los Angeles show in April.

Her six-track debut EP, N0rth4evr, arrived on 1 May, produced entirely by North at the age of 12 and promoted with a two-day pop-up and a music video for the title track. The record spans rage rap, emo, hyperpop, and metal, and drew mixed-to-positive reviews.

Kardashian has publicly backed her daughter's music. Speaking to Complex earlier in 2026, she said: 'She loves producing music and wanted to share it with the world and isn't afraid if people will like it.'

North joined rapper Molly Santana on stage at the Rolling Loud festival in Orlando, and made her first solo festival appearance at Lyrical Lemonade's Summer Smash in Chicago in June. She told Dazed she wished it had happened sooner. 'Yeah, I wish I'd done it earlier, though. I've been ready,' she said.

In late July, a 14-date co-headlining tour with Santana, 21, billed as the Kimokawaii Tour, was scrapped days before its 5 August opening in Dallas. North announced the cancellation on Instagram without giving a reason, telling fans to expect 'something special' instead.

'This Is What I Wanna Do With My Life'

North said she has no intention of pausing her music. Asked to name the worst advice she had been given, she cited those who told her to wait. 'To start my career later,' she said. 'It's like, nah, this is my hobby, this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life.'

In the same interview, she described her day-to-day routine. She said she rehearses most days, keeps moodboards on Pinterest for her nails and hair, and had to persuade her mother before dyeing her hair blue. 'Everyone's in love with boys, vaping and doing all kinds of bad stuff,' she recalled telling Kardashian. 'All I want is blue hair and piercings.'

Kim Kardashian remained on set throughout the cover shoot at her Los Angeles-area home. North is the eldest of her four children with Ye.
