Novak Djokovic has revealed he is raring to go ahead of Serbia's Davis Cup quarter-finals against Spain.

The 29-year-old had pulled out of the Miami Open with an elbow injury, claiming that he had continued playing for months despite the setback.

The injury has not been the only setback for Djokovic as he has not had the best 2017 with a second round exit in the Australian Open falling to wild card Denis Istomin. He also suffered losses in the Mexican Open and BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, both to Nick Kyrgios.

"I skipped Miami and I haven't done much in Indian Wells, so the start of the season wasn't ideal," Djokovic said, as quoted on AP. "I had luck and pleasure to play at an exceptionally high level for six years and had fantastic results. Things are a bit different now."

While Djokovic stated that he needed to play games to get back into shape, he was thankful for the opportunity to rest and spend time with his family.

"I haven't had too many matches recently, and that's what I need to get back in shape," he added. "I needed some rest."

"But I'm not disappointed because I spent some quality time with my family."

Djokovic will now return to action in the Davis Cup with Serbia facing Spain in the World Group quarter-finals that take place from 7-9 April. Despite the absence of Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut, the current world number two is not underestimating Spain.

"Spain is one of the most successful nations in the Davis Cup," he explained. "Their best players are not here, but we should not underestimate them."
