Rape victim jailed for extra-marital sex
The alleged victim was 14 when she claims she was raped by a 'legendary 70s pop star'

Police have launched an investigation after a woman claimed she was raped by a British pop star when she was 14 years old.

The woman, who is now 50, says the alleged attack happened in the 1970s, when she was attending one of the singer's concerts with a 13-year-old friend after being given free tickets.

The friends were in the front row of the audience, when the bodyguard pulled the teenagers out of the crowd and led them to the star's hotel.

However the pair, who had been hoping for an autograph with their pop idol, were separated and the 14-year-old was taken to the singer's hotel room. The singer has not been named.

She recalled three other people waiting in the suite including a popular comedian, a female friend of the artist and a backing singer. She describes how the star arrived wearing a short white robe and posed for photos with her with his arm around her waist.

He then led her to a balcony in the suite where he complimented her on her appearance. The woman told the Sun that the star plied her with Dom Perignon champagne before leading her into the bedroom, pushing her on to the bed and pinning her down.

She told Mail Online: "His gown was off. I was wearing a jumpsuit. He zipped it down and what had started as affectionate and safe, almost, was suddenly becoming painful and forceful, not comfortable. I was confused and couldn't understand where the pain was coming from."

The woman said she was covered in bruises after the assault and has been scarred by the incident. It "affected [her] entire life" and has made it difficult for her to have relationships with men, she said.

The victim is said to have first reported the assault to the Metropolitan Police in 2013, but because the alleged offence happened abroad, it was out of the jurisdiction of detectives, the Telegraph reported.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "This office can confirm an investigation has been conducted regarding a rape case reported during 2014. It is still under investigation."
