The Powerpuff Girls Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network has revealed the premiere date and plot details for The Powerpuff Girls revival series. Superhero sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup will return to our TV screens with back-to-back episodes on Monday, 4 April at 6pm (ET/ PT).

Ahead of its April debut, the revival series will premiere on Monday, 14 March at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. This fan-centric experience will feature a world premiere screening, pre-party and parade with giant-balloon likenesses of all three Powerpuff Girls.

Premieres will follow in other regions around the world. The Network has described the series as follows:

Superhero sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are known to their fellow citizens of Townsville as the Powerpuff Girls. Together, they protect their beautiful, bustling metropolis from sinister evildoers, intent on taking over. Juggling school, homework and a regular parade of villains is no easy task, but the Powerpuff Girls are more than up to the challenge. Armed with supercool superpowers and some topnotch teamwork, the Powerpuff Girls, with occasional assistance from Professor Utonium and the Mayor of Townsville, show their hometown and the world that it is possible to save the world before bedtime.

Tom Kenny will return to voice the narrator/mayor. Blossom is voiced by Amanda Leighton, Bubbles by Kristen Li and Buttercup by Natalie Palamides. The original show was created by Craig McCracken and ran from 1998 to 2005. The revival is produced by Cartoon Network Studios, with Nick Jennings serving as executive producer and Bob Boyle as co-executive producer.
