In what comes as good news for gamers on a variety of platforms, Outlast developer Red Barrels has confirmed that the horror sequel will release on PC and new-gen systems at the same time. This means that gamers on PC, PS4 and Xbox One will enjoy a simultaneous release.
Even though the original game had a staggered release owing to a small indie team that made it, the studio is now in a much better position to come out with a more consistent release on a variety of platforms.
"Outlast #1 was released on one platform at a time because we had to create our pipeline," CEO Phillippe Morin told VG247. "Now that our pipeline is in place, we should be able to release Outlast #2 on PS4, XB1 and PC at the same time. "
According to VG247, Outlast 2 was confirmed overnight, with Morin stating that the team has "at least another horror game in us."
The sequel is reportedly another survival horror game and is set in the same universe as the original. However, this time, it will feature new characters and a fresh setting.
"We might go back to Mount Massive Asylum one day, but for now we have new ideas and themes we'd like to explore and we think we're cooking up something special," said Morin.
