Mom Accused of Stabbing Her Kids About 50 Times While Out on Bond in 2024 Child-Harm Case
Taylor Gosnell faces two attempted murder charges after her children were found injured and alone in their South Carolina home as authorities estimate they suffered about 50 stab wounds

A South Carolina mother faces two counts of attempted murder after investigators said she attacked her six-year-old and three-year-old children, who were later found alone in the family home with approximately 50 stab wounds between them.
Taylor Gosnell, 35, was arrested on Saturday, 26 September 2026, after her six-year-old son telephoned his grandmother to say he was hungry and that his mother was not home.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said the attack took place overnight, hours before deputies discovered the injured children.
Court records show Gosnell already faces pending charges from 2024 alleging she placed a child at risk of harm, and a judge has denied her bond.
A Call to a Grandmother on Bud Arthur Bridge Road
The call set the response in motion. The grandmother and a family friend went to the house in the 1400 block of Bud Arthur Bridge Road and contacted authorities, and deputies arrived for a welfare check shortly after 2.30pm, according to the sheriff's office. They found the two children unattended and injured.
Investigators described the extent of the wounds. 'Between the two children, we're estimating that there were approximately 50 stab wounds,' said Graham McLellan of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, WSPA reported.
At the bond hearing, the solicitor's office told the court that some of the lacerations were so deep they reached the bone.
Arrest warrants allege that Gosnell struck the children with a baseball bat and what the warrants describe as a circular knife, causing severe injuries with intent to kill, Fox News reported. Prosecutors said the six-year-old could face amputation of fingers and possibly an arm.

Handcuffed to a Stretcher After an Attempt To Flee
Gosnell returned to the house while deputies were still at the scene. Investigators said she was speaking rapidly and appeared distressed, and the sheriff's office said her behaviour raised concerns about her immediate well-being, prompting deputies to have her taken by ambulance for evaluation.
She attempted to leave. 'Miss Gosnell attempted to flee at one point from the ambulance, so she was subsequently handcuffed to her stretcher,' the solicitor's office told the court.
She was later medically cleared and released from hospital, and was not interviewed after she requested a lawyer.
Following the investigation, she was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
She was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Facility shortly before midnight on 26 September, and a judge denied bond on both attempted murder charges on 27 September. The charges are allegations, and Gosnell has not been convicted of any offence.
An Unresolved Case From February 2024
This is not her first court case involving a child. Court records show that Gosnell was arrested on 12 February 2024 on two counts alleging she unlawfully placed a child at risk of harm or caused harm to a child, or wilfully abandoned a child. Those charges remain pending, and a bond of £3,690 ($5,000) was set on each count, according to reports citing the records.
The children were taken first to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Prisma Health Children's Hospital in Greenville.
At the time of the latest update, they remained in hospital and in protective custody, and the sheriff's office had said both were in stable condition, expected to recover, and likely to require further surgery.
Neighbours expressed concern for the children's future. 'I'm just praying that they're placed somewhere that they will be safe and taken care of,' Cheryl Bryant, who lives nearby, told WSPA.
The investigation remains active, and Gosnell remains in custody without bond while her two children are treated for their injuries.
