Two goals from Alvargo Negredo ensured Spain's qualification for the Euro 2012 finals next summer as the defending champions beat Liechtenstein 6-0 on Tuesday.

Spain became the third side to qualify for next year's competition after Italy and Germany had secured their passages earlier in the evening. Striker Negredo scored twice in four first half minutes and Xavi netted with a free-kick to give the home side a 3-0 lead at half-time.

Full-back Sergio Ramos added a fourth before a David Villa brace ensured the world champions kept their perfect Group I record remained intact.

"We struggled a bit during the first half hour but things improved as the game went on and I was lucky enough to score," Villa told a Spanish broadcaster.

"Now we have a lot of time to think about it [Euro 2012]. I think it's going to be important that we managed to qualify so early."
