Teen wolf season 6
Teen Wolf season 6 will be the show's final season MTV

Fan favourite MTV show Teen Wolf is coming to an end after its season 6 run. The network released the first trailer for the sixth season and confirmed that it would be the show's final run at 2016's San Diego Comic-Con.

Showrunner Jeff Davis announced during the SDCC panel that season 6 is set to return with a 20- episode season in November and that its 100th episode would serve as a series finale. Davis said, "I know we're sad about it and it's bittersweet but we're so happy to be able to come to Comic-Con and share it with you guys."

Davis said during the Comic-Con panel, "When we realized this might be the last season, we wanted to make sure we brought back these relationships. We definitely wanted Peter Hale back to see the relationship between Peter and Malia and what other trouble Peter could get into... and we also have some great scenes between Peter and Stiles. I wanted to see again and Ian and Dylan [O'Brien] have some great stuff this season so we'll see."

Before the Comic-Con panel Davis spoke to Entertainment Weekly and said the final season was going to be a "great gift to the fans." Actor Tyler Posey, who plays Scott, teased some details about the show's final season. "There's nothing negative about all this. I'm really happy. I'm going to cry my eyes out [at the end]. And it's going to be an ugly-cry too," he said.

The season 6 trailer features villain Ghost Rider who has the power to erase people from reality and is described as "worst than death", wreaking havoc on people's minds in Beacon Hills. The footage also featured the return of Peter Hale, Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski, Lydia Martin, Malia Tate and Jordan Parrish, trying to save the townsfolk from losing their memories.

The footage also hints at a grim fate for Stiles as after it is established that the new villains are wiping out people's memories, Stiles says, "I am next." There is a sweet Stiles-Lydia moment in the promo where Stiles holds her hands and asks, "Will you forget me?" To which she replies, "I wont!"
