Texas mother Holly Leeann Flores, 37, is accused of stabbing her husband in the head and two young children in the chest at a Northlake home early Tuesday, according to the town's police department.

Officers had previously attended the family's home about five times since March, mostly over welfare concerns, Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford disclosed. Investigators have not established a motive for the alleged attack in the Denton County town.

Texas Mother Faces Attempted Murder Charges

Flores faces two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police confirmed. She was detained at the home before receiving hospital treatment and being taken to Denton County Jail.

The police department placed the dispatch at approximately 4:20am, after a man reported that his wife had a knife and had stabbed him. Officers arrived within minutes at the property in the 1200 block of Daylily Drive.

They located a 34-year-old man with a stab wound to his head. His injury was described as non-life-threatening, but the officers' search of the residence revealed that two young children had also been wounded.

A three-year-old girl and a 10-month-old boy had each suffered stab wounds to the chest, police reported. Officers discovered them during a protective sweep of the home. It remains unclear whether the man knew the children had been stabbed when he contacted emergency services.

Medical Updates on Injured Family as Children Remain Hospitalised

Fire and emergency medical personnel transported the man and both children to a hospital in Fort Worth. Flores was taken separately to a hospital in Denton for observation and treatment of minor injuries before her release into police custody.

Crawford addressed the children's condition during a news conference on Tuesday morning. They remained in hospital with family members beside them, although the full extent of their injuries was not clear.

'I don't believe they're life-threatening. They're still in hospital for observation, but I believe they are going to be okay,' he stated.

Police believe Flores is the children's mother. Although the injured man was described as her husband, investigators could not confirm whether he was their father.

Crawford also described the impact of the incident on those who responded to the home.

'Very, very heartbreaking when we have to respond to a traumatic event such as this,' he told the news conference.

'Just prayers for the family and for our officers as well. You know, most people don't see tragedies like this in a lifetime. We see it several times through our career and, after a while, that weighs on you. But yeah, if the community can just pray, pray for us and pray for the family that this has happened to.'

Police Reveal History of Emergency Welfare Calls to Northlake Home

Crawford explained that the previous calls originated from the address itself, rather than from neighbours. Most concerned welfare, but he declined to elaborate while the investigation continued.

'I don't want to say anything out of context right now, so some of that information will probably come out later,' he stated.

The chief reported that Flores had spoken little to the officers who arrested her.

'She's more just in a, um, a stare, just not really saying a whole lot,' he explained.

Northlake police were still working to determine a motive for the alleged attack as the investigation into the stabbings continued.
