An alleged cousin of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas has begun posting on Facebook about the investigation surrounding the teenager's death, with some of the posts calling for justice, prompting internet sleuths to wonder whether the family will finally break its silence.

The posts, shared and discussed widely on Reddit, have reignited public interest in the investigation involving rising star D4vd, whose Tesla was linked to the discovery of Rivas' body. While the family has yet to issue an official statement, the activity online has raised expectations that one may be forthcoming.

Discovery of Celeste Rivas' Remains

On 8 September 2025, the severely decomposed and decapitated remains of Celeste Rivas were found inside two cadaver bags in the front trunk of a black Tesla impounded in Los Angeles. An impound lot employee reported a foul smell was emanating from the vehicle, leading to the grim discovery.

The Tesla was registered to David Anthony Burke, professionally known as D4vd, whose song Here With Me gained him immense popularity after it went viral on TikTok. Prior to the discovery, Rivas had been missing for a year.

Alleged Cousin Posts on Facebook

On 3 March 2026, a Reddit user under the handle 'u/Cherrysodaprincess' shared what they claimed to be Facebook posts from an alleged cousin of Rivas. The names in the screenshots were redacted, making independent verification impossible. The Redditor wrote: 'Celeste's cousin posted this on Facebook. Is the family finally coming out to speak?

In the post, Rivas' alleged cousin shared a TikTok video made by True Crime Diaries about the case of Rivas and D4vd on their Facebook. They captioned the post: 'we're telling our story's'.

On the same day, Cherrysodaprincess posted another screenshot of the Facebook post. They wrote: 'More of Celeste's cousin's Facebook post 👀 Second slide — is she talking about D4vd?'

In the screenshot, Rivas' alleged cousin shared another TikTok video showing a missing poster of Rivas, writing: 'Remember what you did.' They also shared posts calling for justice for the teenager.

Furthermore, they wrote: 'So it was him. He was literally following me around. My mind wasn't playing tricks on me. It made me feel sick to my stomach.' This appears to be the post the Reddit user was referring to, although it is not confirmed whether Rivas' cousin was referring to D4vd.

In another post, the alleged cousin wrote: 'She does want justice. She comes to visit me every time.' Another post said: 'She's beyond pissed on the other side.'

Furthermore, Cherrysodaprincess has most recently posted a third series of screenshots, with one saying, 'Don't worry Celeste I won't let him get away with this.'

These Facebook posts, though unverified, have sparked hope for those waiting for the family to speak out.

Celeste Rivas Case Updates

It has been confirmed that the teenager was decapitated and her remains placed into two separate cadaver bags.

Court documents unsealed earlier this year confirmed that D4vd has been identified as a 'target' in the investigation. The documents emerged after his family challenged a subpoena requiring them to testify before a grand jury. The petition was denied. However, it has not yet been reported whether they have complied with the summons.

A footnote in the habeas corpus petition read, 'The underlying case is The People of the State of California v. David Burke,' revealed by private investigator Steve Fischer. According to legal experts, this could mark the beginning of a criminal case against the 20-year-old singer.

Prior to this, D4vd's close associate, Neo Langston, was arrested and compelled to appear before the grand jury to provide testimony regarding the case. His appearance reportedly lasted 30 to 40 minutes.
