There could be further disappointment for fans of the upcoming Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2015 as supermodel Candice Swanepoel has been struck with the flu, prompting many to speculate whether she will pull out of the event. The brand's annual showcase has been hit with a number of cancellations so far, and it would be a major if Swanepoel dropped out.
The 27-year-old, who is one of the lingerie label's most popular models, was expected to lead the runway at the event, taking place on 10 November in New York. Revealing her illness to her Instagram followers, Swanepoel posted a photo of herself wearing an oxygen mask with the caption: "Possibly the worst time ever to get flu. #doctordoctor." Interestingly, the model has now deleted the post from her account, and there has been no further update regarding her health.
Swanepoel's message comes just days after it was announced that Rihanna had cancelled her scheduled performance at the show, reportedly so she could focus on recording her new album, Anti. A source told the New York Post's Page Six: "She's still working on some stuff and [the music] isn't to a point where she wants to perform it. Things are supposed to be further along, but she's still not ready."
In a surprising twist of events, Jourdan Dunn, who has modelled for Victoria's Secret since 2012, is said to have posted a negative tweet against the brand when reacting to Rihanna's cancellation, confirming that she will not be walking during the show. The model tweeted: "Feeling so much better about not doing BS... sorry I mean VS now that Rihanna isn't doing it also." Similar to Swanepoel, Dunn has since deleted the message from her Twitter page.
The models confirmed to walk the show include Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Alessandra Ambrosio, Shanina Shaik, Lily Aldridge and Joan Smalls. The prestigious fashion show will be take place on 10 November and will be broadcast on CBS on 8 December 2015. Ellie Goulding, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd will perform as the models strut the runway.
