Why Did Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas Break Up After Nine Months? Next Film of Ex Couple Could Be Awkward

Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise and his actress girlfriend Ana de Armas have called it quits.

A source told The Sun that the couple recently decided to end their short-lived romance.

'Tom and Ana had a good time together but their time as a couple has run its course,' the source said. 'They are going to remain good friends but they aren't dating anymore. They just realised they weren't going to go the distance and that they are better off as mates.'

The source also mentioned that the spark between the two was gone, but they still enjoy each other's company.

When Did their Relationship Start?

Cruise, aged 63, was spotted hanging out with De Armas, aged 37, during the sold-out concert of Oasis in London in July. The outing sparked dating rumours, which were later confirmed when they were photographed while holding hands in Woodstock, Vermont.

TMZ reported that the 'Mission: Impossible' star and the Cuban actress drove through a national park, went shopping and enjoyed an ice cream without letting go of each other's hands.

Previous sightings claimed they also spent Valentine's Day in Madrid and saw each other several times in London.

De Armas also shared during her guest appearance on 'Good Morning America' in May that she has several projects lined up with Cruise. 'Not just one but a few projects with Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie and, of course, Tom. And I'm so excited,' she said as reported by E! News.

The former couple is supposed to star in the supernatural thriller 'Deeper'. But The Sun's source revealed that the movie has been postponed. There's no word yet regarding the reason for the delay, and if the movie will still push through with the production.

Cruise and De Armas' Dating Histories

Since starting his career in the early 1980s, Cruise has had romantic relationships with some of Hollywood's prettiest women.

He dated actresses Melissa Gilbert and Rebecca De Mornay and singers Patti Scialfa and Cher from early to mid-1980s.

Cruise first married actress Mimi Rogers in May 1987, but they filed for divorce in February 1990. He met Nicole Kidman on the set of 'Days of Thunder,' then they decided to get married in December 1990. The then-couple adopted two children before filing for a divorce on 5 February 2001.

The actor also briefly dated Penelope Cruz and the Iranian-Brazilian actress Nazanin Boniadi.

In April 2005, Cruise and 'Dawson's Creek' alum Katie Holmes started seeing each other. By October of the same year, the couple announced that they were expecting a child. Their baby girl Suri was born in April 2006.

Cruise and Holmes got married in a lavish ceremony in the Italian town of Bracciano. The event at the Castello Orsini-Odelscalchi was attended by Hollywood A-listers

Holmes filed for divorce on 29 June 2012.

Meanwhile, De Armas was married to Spanish actor Marc Clotet in July 2011, then divorced in 2013. She also dated her 'Deep Water' co-star Ben Affleck from March 2020 to January 2021.

The 'Ballerina' actress also briefly dated Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel in November 2024, which led to strong criticisms from members of the Cuban diaspora.
