Labour MP Simon Danczuk was reportedly arrested by Spanish police after a row that saw his estranged wife saw her taken to hospital.
The Rochdale MP was said to have been involved in a furious argument with partner Karen on Sunday night (14 August) while the pair were on holiday together with their children in Spain.
The politician is understood to have spent a night in a police cell while Karen was treated for minor cuts and bruises, according to The Sun.
The argument apparently saw the 49-year-old throw Karen's phone in the swimming pool at their apartment in Algorfa.
Onlookers claimed Karen also appeared to have a cut to her chest as a bare-chested Danczuk was taken away in handcuffs just before 10pm.
He was reportedly shouting: "Karen, Karen, I just want to talk to you."
The MP subsequently walked free from a court during a closed hearing in the Costa Blanca town of Orihuela where Karen chose not to pursue any charges, according to media reports.
Danczuk is currently suspended from the Labour Party after being involved in a sexting scandal in which he asked a teenage girl if she wanted to be "spanked" and told her how "horny" she made him. He also recently faced claims he had sex with a 22-year-old in his constituency office.
Before the incident in Spain, Karen had posted pictures of herself enjoying her holiday on social media.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said it was "providing support" to a British man who was detained by police.
There was no comment from Danczuk's constituency office or the Labour Party.
