A fresh set of photos depicting BlackBerry's upcoming affordable smartphone dubbed BlackBerry Rio has leaked.

Obtained and published by N4BB, these leaks show that BlackBerry Rio bearing model number STR100-1 runs OS version 10.3.1.2267. The back cover with the BlackBerry branding shows an eight megapixel rear-camera with auto-focus.

BlackBerry is likely to make an announcement about the BlackBerry Rio at the 2015 Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona that will kick off next week, followed by a market rollout expected between April and May.

According to rumours BlackBerry Rio will pack a 5in screen with 1280 x 720 resolution giving it a pixel density of 295 pixels per inch. It will have a two megapixel front camera and an eight megapixel rear camera.

The smartphone will use Qualcomm's MSM8960 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and will be paired with a 2GB RAM. With an internal storage capacity of 16GB, the smartphone will also support a microSD card for additional space. In terms of connectivity, it will support Penta Band LTE + 4G Hotspot, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth version 4.0 and DLNA.

The new BlackBerry device will be priced at around $200. The smartphone might not have the same name when it launches. According to CrackBerry, which managed to find some files within BlackBerry 10 OS, the smartphone might be named 'BlackBerry Leap' instead.
