Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned player of the year at the 2014 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, UAE.

Real Madrid were the big winners at the sixth edition of the awards, with Los Blancos named club of the year, Florentino Perez best president of the year, Carlo Ancelotti best coach of the year, and James Rodriguez named revelation of the year.

"I just feel happy, it is one more trophy, it's dedication and hard work," said Ronaldo.

"I have to say thank you to my team mates, to my club Real Madrid, to my president, to my coach Mr Ancelotti because we did a fantastic season - we win four titles, which in my opinion was very very important and we are one of the best teams in the world so to win this trophy for me is a big pleasure," he added.

Ronaldo had previously won the best player of the year award in 2011.
