Donald Trump's hand became the unexpected focus of his 5 October rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, as online commenters mocked its appearance, with one describing it as 'half rotted', Atlanta Black Star reported.

The 80-year-old president appeared at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center to sign an executive order expanding red dye diesel use. His display of the signed document, accompanied by a jibe at Joe Biden, prompted viewers to scrutinise both his handwriting and the appearance of his right hand.

Donald Trump's Hand Draws Online Mockery

The report described make-up on his right hand that appeared markedly different in colour from the surrounding skin. It also noted a prominent vein extending towards reddened fingers, details that attracted attention while he displayed the executive order.

'He is keeping a foundation brand in business.' That was one commenter's response to what they regarded as an attempt to cover bruising. Another critic questioned, 'When hasn't it looked half rotted?'

The remark was a mocking description from an online observer, rather than a medical assessment. Other commenters pointed to what they described as sores and marks resembling needle indentations, but those observations did not establish their cause.

A Signature Display From Donald Trump

The attention to his hand followed a moment in which Trump presented signing his name as a contrast with his predecessor. 'I'm going to do what Joe Biden couldn't do: sign his signature,' Trump declared.

He held up the folder containing the executive order and moved his hand in sharp, peaked strokes for 10 seconds, according to the account. He then displayed his signature to the crowd.

Trump went on to claim that Biden had been incapable of signing and had relied solely on an autopen. The account provided no evidence to substantiate that allegation.

Some viewers questioned whether the handwriting resembled his usual signature. One Threads user wrote, 'Trump is proud of his signature, but doesn't it seem off this time?' Another responded, 'It is quite different.'

On X, one observer wrote, 'I really wouldn't call a running a Sharpie in a continuous up and down pattern a signature, it just looks like an EKG result or something.' Another observer questioned why 'writing his name down is now part of the stage act.'

Trump regularly displays signed executive orders in the Oval Office. The Nebraska appearance brought that familiar presentation to a rally, where reactions quoted in the report focused on the pen strokes as well as his hand.

His criticism of Biden also extended beyond the signing itself. The account described a photograph of an autopen representing his Democratic predecessor along the White House Presidential Walk of Fame, where photographs of Barack Obama and other presidents were displayed.

Officials' Account of Donald Trump's Health

The online scrutiny followed earlier attention to bruising, cracking and swelling on Trump's hands, which Atlanta Black Star reported he had frequently covered with make-up. Those descriptions have fuelled speculation about his health, without establishing a diagnosis.

Some commenters suggested intravenous treatment might explain the appearance of his hand. No medical evidence substantiating that theory was included in the report, and IBTimes UK cannot independently verify claims that he has received such treatment.

The administration has attributed the discolouration to frequent handshakes. The report also stated that Trump received a clean bill of health and was deemed fit for office following a physical examination in May.
