Elon Musk has indicated that SpaceXAI will become SpaceXSI after Donald Trump ordered federal agencies to adopt 'Super Intelligence' terminology.

Elon Musk said on Sunday, 4 October, that SpaceXAI would be renamed SpaceXSI, days after US President Donald Trump ordered the executive branch to use 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' instead of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in specified federal materials. Musk commented on X after a user asked whether SpaceXAI could make the change.

The response came shortly after Trump signed an executive order promoting the new terminology. While the order applies to the federal executive branch, Musk's reported decision would extend the language into one of his private-sector technology businesses if implemented.

Elon Musk's SpaceXSI Plan Follows Trump's Federal Order

The news came after Trump signed Executive Order 14434 on 29 September, titled Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence. The order directs executive departments and agencies, to the maximum extent permitted by law, to use 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' instead of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents and other non-statutory documents within the executive branch.

The order applies to executive departments and agencies, rather than directing private technology companies to change their corporate names.

The distinction is important. Musk's reported decision to rename SpaceXAI appears to be separate from the government directive, meaning the proposed corporate change would not simply be an automatic consequence of Trump's order.

The White House said the terminology is intended to reflect what the administration describes as the increasingly advanced capabilities of modern systems. The order says today's frontier systems do more than imitate or automate discrete aspects of human intelligence.

The order also directs the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology to submit proposed legislative language for a federal definition of 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' within 60 days.

Why Elon Musk's SpaceXSI Rebrand Is Getting Attention

Musk wrote on X, ' No more AI. SI. It's better.' A user then asked whether SpaceXAI could be renamed SpaceXSI.

Musk replied, 'Yes, we will make that change.'

Those brief posts form the central basis for the reported rebranding. They show Musk's stated intention, but they do not establish that the corporate rebranding has already been completed.

Reuters reported the exchange as Musk saying he would rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. The report noted that SpaceXAI's X account had not been changed at the time and that Musk had provided no timetable for when the change would occur.

That leaves an important distinction between a public statement and a completed corporate rebrand. For now, the available information establishes what Musk said rather than confirming that the SpaceXAI name has already been removed from the company's branding.

What Donald Trump's 'Super Intelligence' Order Actually Changes

For context, Trump's order covers how the executive branch refers to the technology in official government material.

The White House says the policy is intended to make federal terminology reflect what it considers the growing capabilities of advanced systems. For the order, 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' use the existing statutory definition of artificial intelligence unless superseded by subsequent presidential action consistent with applicable law or by an Act of Congress.

The order also says previously issued regulations, presidential actions, contracts, grants and other historical documents do not have to be altered.

The immediate effect is therefore on federal terminology. Executive departments and agencies are instructed to use 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' in specified official materials, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Musk's proposed SpaceXSI name would extend that terminology into one of his private-sector technology businesses if the change is implemented. Whether other technology companies adopt the same language remains unclear.

Musk has said the change will be made, but no timetable has been provided. The proposed rebrand should therefore be treated as a planned change rather than a completed one until further details emerge.
