'Faker Than the Moon Landing': Flydubai FZ1073 'False Flag' Claims Explode After Viral Video Exposed
FZ1073 landed safely in Tabuk after diverting from its planned Dubai-to-Tel Aviv route

Questions and conspiracy theories surrounding Flydubai flight FZ1073 have intensified after a viral video linked to the 30 September emergency was exposed as unrelated footage from 2025. The discovery has added fuel to online 'false flag' claims about the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight, which made an emergency diversion to Saudi Arabia following a cockpit incident.
However, while the viral 'aftermath' video was falsely attributed to FZ1073, official statements and independent flight data confirm that the aircraft experienced a serious emergency before landing safely in Tabuk.
Why Flydubai FZ1073 'False Flag' Claims Are Spreading
Questions began circulating online as users picked apart videos, passenger accounts and details emerging after the FZ1073 emergency. Some claimed the available footage did not appear consistent with reports of the aircraft's rapid descent, while others questioned whether videos presented as being from the flight showed the same cabin.

The FlyDubai story is faker than the moon landing! pic.twitter.com/y9Qx4LAxmg
Among those questioning the account was an X user who called the Flydubai story 'faker than the moon landing'. In a video, he pointed to black seatback screens, the absence of visible oxygen masks and a lack of loose items in the aisle. He also compared the cabin with footage circulating as an 'aftermath party', noting that the seats, ceiling and overhead storage did not match.
From those apparent inconsistencies, he suggested the incident was a 'false flag'. One of those inconsistencies was genuine, although for a different reason.
Viral Flydubai 'Aftermath Party' Video Was From 2025
The second video was never filmed aboard FZ1073.
Fact-checking organisation Lead Stories traced the footage, which shows passengers celebrating while a man carries a large speaker, back to August 2025. The original video was published by Israeli sports channel Sport5 and showed members of Israel's men's basketball team travelling for the EuroBasket tournament.
More than a year later, the same footage resurfaced after the Flydubai emergency with a caption presenting it as FZ1073 passengers celebrating after surviving the incident. That explains the different seats, ceiling and overhead compartments noticed in comparisons online. The two videos were showing different aircraft.
What Official Sources Confirm About Flydubai FZ1073
Flydubai has confirmed that an 'altercation occurred in the flight deck' while FZ1073 was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The airline said on-duty crew travelling aboard helped secure the aircraft before it diverted and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
Independent flight-tracking data also recorded the aircraft descending sharply from cruising altitude. FZ1073 transmitted transponder code 7700, signalling a general emergency, followed by 7500, the international code used for unlawful interference.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later said the co-pilot stabbed Indian captain Smit Machchhar and apparently attempted to bring down the aircraft. Those details remain part of the official account being investigated rather than a final investigative finding.
Saudi Arabia's National Transport Safety Center opened an aviation safety investigation, while UAE authorities are examining the circumstances, motive and whether there was prior planning or terrorist intent.
Furthermore, no credible evidence released so far establishes that the Flydubai emergency was staged. At the same time, authorities have not yet published their final findings explaining exactly what happened inside the cockpit or why.
