Fans from all around the world eagerly await the release of "The Hunger Games" and the film is expected to break the hitherto-untouched record collection of the Twilight films, in its first weekend.
There are even suggestions the eagerly anticipated film, which is an adaptation of Suzanne Collins' bestselling novel, could gather up to $130 - $140 million, more than the debuts of some of the "Twilight" movies.
Online-ticketing company, Fandango announced on Tuesday that nearly 2,000 screens had been sold out in its pre-sale.
The film, directed by Gary Ross, stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the lead roles. It features teens fighting for survival in a government-controlled world that hosts annual televised games in which young participants are forced to kill their opponents.
