Nicki Minaj has declared herself a devoted supporter of US President Donald Trump, saying criticism only strengthens her resolve. The Grammy-winning rapper made the remarks in Washington on 28 January 2026, during a high-profile DC summit tied to a new government initiative.

Her comments, delivered shortly before Trump spoke, marked another clear step in her political alignment. This moment just showed how public backlash has shaped, rather than softened, her stance.

Nicki Minaj Number 1 Fan of Trump

According to The Hill, Minaj spoke at a US Treasury Department-hosted event launching 'Trump Accounts,' a scheme offering investment funds for newborn children. Addressing the audience, she said she was 'probably the president's No. 1 fan.' The comment drew attention because it was delivered at a formal government gathering, rather than a campaign rally.

She went further by stressing that her support was fixed. 'And that's not going to change,' Minaj said, making clear her loyalty was not conditional or temporary. The rapper (real name Onika Maraj) spoke before Trump took the stage at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium.

'Starships' Singer Says Haters Just Motivate Her More

Minaj also addressed critics who have challenged her public backing of Trump. She said negative reactions did not deter her, but instead pushed her to be more vocal.

'The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all,' she told the crowd, adding that it motivated her support even further.

She accused Trump's opponents of bullying and running smear campaigns. According to Minaj, those efforts would fail. She also framed Trump's position in spiritual terms, telling the audience that 'God is protecting him' and that the president had strong forces behind him.

How Minaj's Support for Trump Began

Minaj's relationship with Trump has not always been straightforward. In November 2015, she said there were points he had made that were not 'so horrible', while criticising his tone. She also described his public persona as entertaining during his early political rise.

Her stance shifted in later years. In 2016, she criticised Trump's deportation rhetoric in a song, and in 2018 she condemned the administration's family separation policy. Minaj said she came to the US as an undocumented child and urged the government to stop the practice.

By February 2020, she said she would not 'jump on Donald Trump bandwagon', citing concern for migrant children. Despite that, she continued to praise Trump's television presence, calling him funny on Celebrity Apprentice. Over time, her views moved closer to his political orbit.

Becoming Among Trump's Most Outspoken Supporters

By late 2025, Minaj had become one of Trump's most visible celebrity supporters. She appeared at Turning Point USA's annual conference, where she said she had 'utmost respect and admiration' for the president. She credited Trump with giving people hope and linked their shared roots in Queens, New York.

Her appearance at the DC summit cemented that image. On stage, Minaj and Trump were even seen holding hands and laughing, drawing widespread attention. Trump praised her as 'the greatest and most successful female rapper in history' and thanked her for donating significant funds to the Trump Accounts programme.

He also acknowledged the backlash she faced, noting that her community was not always supportive of Trump. Minaj, however, appeared unmoved.

As of early 2026, she stands firmly among Trump's most outspoken supporters, presenting criticism as fuel rather than a warning.
