A band associated with The Satanic Temple released a provocative music video this Wednesday, depicting a woman performing a simulated satanic 'abortion ritual' inside a women's restroom at a Hobby Lobby store. Satanic Planet, a band including The Satanic Temple co-founder Lucien Greaves, released the track titled 'Sam Alito's Mom'.

This title directly references the organisation's online abortion clinic. According to its website, the clinic claims to provide religious medication abortion care by offering medication via mail to those in New Mexico who wish to perform The Satanic Temple's Religious Abortion Ritual.

Satanic Temple Band Releases Controversial Music Video

Against a backdrop of heavy metal music, the video shows a woman entering a women's restroom at a Hobby Lobby store to perform the ritual. The text of the group's religious ceremony, publicly available online, heavily emphasises self-worship. Participants gaze at their reflection and affirm their personal will before proceeding with a drug-induced abortion.

The music video explicitly describes the act as a destruction ritual that serves as a protective rite. The stated purpose is to cast off guilt and empower the patient against those with theocratic religious convictions.

Music Video Depicts the Religious Abortion Ritual

After taking abortifacient drugs, the woman prayerfully sits on the toilet before flushing her baby. She returns to her reflection and reads a final affirmation echoing the traditional liturgy of the Eucharist, declaring, 'By my body, my blood, by my will, it is done.'

The video concludes by showing Christian-themed products sold at Hobby Lobby engulfed in flames. These include an image of Jesus with children, Scripture verse plaques, a sign reading 'One Nation Under God', and a cross emblazoned with faith, hope, and love. The track originates from the album Dead Deities, described on YouTube as a pitch-black call-to-arms against autocracy.

Hobby Lobby Precedent Helps Explain the Conflict

Hobby Lobby did not respond to a request for comment from The Christian Post. The retail chain has been the target of the organisation's ire since a 2014 US Supreme Court ruling allowed the Christian-owned company to opt out of providing contraceptives to employees based on religious beliefs.

The Satanic Temple cited the precedent established in the Hobby Lobby case to argue that their members' supposedly religious beliefs regarding self-worship should exempt them from state-level abortion restrictions. Ramirez's remarks come from a 2023 interview and are often cited by critics of The Satanic Temple. During a Fox News broadcast ahead of the organisation's 'SatanCon' gathering in Boston, evangelist John Ramirez dismissed claims that satanists do not communicate with demonic forces.

Ramirez was inducted into the witchcraft of Santería as a boy and said he lived in the satanic kingdom for twenty-five years. He recounted talking to Satan daily, asserting that public denials from these groups are deceptive. He argued that identifying as a satanist without serving Satan is like a Christian refusing to serve Jesus.

Ramirez, who claims to have been a warlock until a supernatural experience of hell led him to Jesus Christ, noted he previously used to astrally project his consciousness to invoke demonic power. Reflecting on contemporary morals, he remarked that modern society makes Sodom and Gomorrah look like kindergarten, concluding that American culture has lost its conscience of right from wrong.
