Police charged Metallica Rose Harrison with two counts of criminal homicide Via Pocono Township Police Department

A 27-year-old mother has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after allegedly stabbing her husband and three-year-old son to death inside a guest room at the Great Wolf Lodge resort in Scotrun, Pennsylvania.

Metallica Rose Harrison was staying with her young family at the Pocono Mountains indoor waterpark destination when emergency dispatchers received a harrowing 911 distress call at approximately 3:13pm on Monday, 12 October 2026.

Responding officers from the Pocono Township Police Department discovered the bodies of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their toddler son on separate mattresses inside the room, both having suffered fatal stab wounds to the chest.

Harrison, who was found nursing self-inflicted injuries, reportedly told the emergency call handler that her family members were already gone and asked for assistance taking her own life.

After being transferred under police custody to St Luke's Hospital for treatment, the defendant allegedly rebuffed questioning from detectives by stating she was 'suicidal, not stupid'.

Following her discharge from hospital, Harrison was formally arraigned and remanded without bail to the Monroe County Correctional Facility as prosecutors struggle to determine a motive.

Great Wolf Lodge Emergency Call Leads Officers to Hotel Room

The Pocono Township Police Department stated that Harrison told the dispatcher she needed assistance dying by suicide. Officers responding to the room discovered she had also been injured and arranged for her transfer to St Luke's Hospital.

Investigators subsequently discovered the bodies of her husband, Charles, and their young son. Mancuso confirmed that Harrison faces two counts of criminal homicide, while police described the incident as an 'isolated domestic tragedy' and stated there was no threat to the wider community.

The complaint also records the injuries both victims sustained. Charles had suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest, while the child had sustained a single stab wound to the chest, according to details reported by Fox News Digital.

Investigators also recovered a 'large butcher kitchen knife' and a smaller blade from the bathroom, the complaint states. Hotel staff told investigators the resort did not keep knives of that size, leaving the presence of the larger blade among the questions raised by the evidence.

Great Wolf Lodge Surveillance Footage Details Family's Movements

Security footage outlined in the complaint places the family entering their room at approximately 7pm on 11 October. About an hour later, Harrison left to use a microwave. Roughly two hours afterwards, she and Charles visited the arcade before returning to their accommodation.

The footage offers a limited account of their movements before police arrived the following day. It does not, on its own, establish what occurred inside the room or explain why the two victims were attacked.

According to the criminal complaint, Harrison reportedly spoke about her family while being transported to hospital.

'Every day I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,' she stated. 'It wasn't supposed to end like this.'

'I was supposed to have my happy family. That's what I envisioned since I was a child,' Harrison added.

Later, when officers attempted to question her about the stabbings at St Luke's Hospital, she reportedly responded, 'suicidal, not stupid.'

Great Wolf Lodge Responds as Homicide Case Proceeds

Mancuso acknowledged that investigators had not established a motive. 'That's one of the most perplexing questions,' he told reporters. 'But it's a developing situation.'

A Great Wolf Lodge spokesperson told The Independent that the company was cooperating with law enforcement. 'We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains,' the spokesperson stated.

'It was an isolated family incident, and we're cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.' The spokesperson added, 'Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected.'

Police said Harrison was denied bail on Tuesday and transferred to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, where she awaits a preliminary hearing.
