CES 2012: Lenovo Debuts 55-inch TV with Ice Cream Sandwich
Expect some serious competition from Lenovo to Apple's proposed smart TVs and LG's OLED smart TVs at the CES this year. Lenovo will be debuting Ice Cream Sandwich on a 55-inch TV, distinguishing itself from the overhyped Google TV.
The 55-inch Lenovo K91 harbours smart TV capabilities and is expected to see an initial launch in China. It would be interesting to see how it fares against other Android TVs and Apple Smart TVs that are expected to hit the market soon.
The K91 comes packed with heavyweight features including an IPS display running on 1080p (full HD) resolution and powered by a 1.5GHz dual core-processor. It includes 1GB of RAM and a 5 megapixel camera built into the display bezel for video calling.
The Android 4.0 TV supports speech-controlled or voice-guided inputs along with a motion-sensing touchpad equipped remote control. It is also expected to be compatible with Lenovo tablets and smartphones.
The Lenovo IdeaPad S2 tablet is also likely to debut Ice Cream Sandwich at the CES. The device sports a 10.1-inch display while weighing lighter than the iPad 2.
The IdeaPad S2 is expected to ship in three variants: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Besides, it adds a laptop dock and resembles the popular ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime with its looks and design.
Among the announcements is a mid-range S2 smartphone that unfortunately loses out on the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade and rather ships with a dated Gingerbread operating system. It sports a decent 3.8-inch display running at 800 x 400 pixels resolution, besides including an 8 megapixel camera and a 1.4GHz processor.
