Donnarumma Burglars Jailed After Tying Up Football Star and Pregnant Partner in €1m Paris Robbery

Two men involved in the terrifying 2023 burglary at Gianluigi Donnarumma's Paris home have been sentenced to prison after the Manchester City goalkeeper and his pregnant partner were attacked during the robbery.

Donnarumma was beaten by masked intruders while his then-fiancée, Alessia Elefante, was choked with a cable during the ordeal. She later suffered a miscarriage, which was attributed to the trauma of the incident, according to AFP reports published by Mid-Day and Al Jazeera.

The robbery took place in July 2023, when the Italy international was playing for Paris Saint-Germain. Donnarumma later moved to Manchester City in 2025.

The attackers escaped with cash, watches, jewellery and luxury bags. The footballer estimated the value of the stolen property at just under €1 million.

Donnarumma Dragged From Bed in Night Raid

According to details heard in court, Donnarumma and Elefante were attacked during the early hours of 21 July 2023. Four masked men reportedly entered their luxury ninth-floor apartment on Avenue Montaigne in central Paris after gaining access via the rooftops.

The couple were dragged from their bed and held captive at knifepoint. Donnarumma was beaten with reinforced gloves until he was bleeding, while Elefante was choked with a phone charging cable. The pair were separated and tied up as the robbers searched the property.

A wider seven-man gang was believed to have been involved, with some suspects still unidentified. The attackers reportedly escaped within minutes with the luxury goods. The case became one of several high-profile burglaries targeting wealthy residents and celebrities in the exclusive Avenue Montaigne area.

Mastermind Jailed For Nine Years

Ilyas Kherbouch, 21, described by prosecutors as the mastermind of the burglary, was sentenced to nine years in prison by the Paris Criminal Court. He was also fined €80,000.

Co-defendant Moktar D received a five-year prison sentence, with two years suspended subject to a probationary period, according to AFP reporting published by Mid-Day and Al Jazeera. Prosecutors had sought sentences of up to 10 years for the defendants accused of orchestrating or participating in the robbery.

A third defendant, Khyan M, 22, was acquitted. Prosecutors had suspected that he helped orchestrate the operation from his prison cell.

Gang Targeted Wealthy Paris Residents

The trial highlighted the growing problem of violent burglaries targeting wealthy residents in central Paris. Prosecutors described the crime as highly lucrative and extremely violent, with affluent and celebrity victims increasingly being targeted.

The attackers allegedly knew that Donnarumma and Elefante were likely to have expensive possessions inside their apartment. Kherbouch and another alleged mastermind denied involvement. Kherbouch said exchanges and videos recovered from phones he used in custody could have come from other users, according to AFP.

Moktar D, who was the only defendant alleged to have been physically present at the scene, claimed he had only acted as a lookout from a building opposite the couple's apartment.

Donnarumma Now With Manchester City

Donnarumma has since left Paris Saint-Germain and joined Manchester City, adding another chapter to the goalkeeper's career after the traumatic burglary.

The 27-year-old Italy international was playing for PSG when the attack happened and was one of several high-profile figures targeted in a series of luxury burglaries in the French capital.

The latest prison sentences bring a measure of closure to the case, although some of those allegedly involved remain unidentified. The violent incident also left a lasting impact on Elefante, who was pregnant at the time and later suffered a miscarriage following the ordeal.
