For many, Super Bowl weekend is a time they look forward to spending with family. For the Logan brothers, the Super Bowl halftime show became the unlikely trigger for a public disagreement, placing the brothers on opposite sides.

The disagreement unfolded on Sunday night during the Super Bowl halftime show headlined by Bad Bunny, where Jake Paul criticised the performance and questioned the artist's place on the Super Bowl stage. Meanwhile, Logan Paul publicly rejected his brother's claims.

Jake Paul's Comments About Bad Bunny and Logan Paul's Public Response

Several hours before halftime, Jake Paul posted on X that he planned to turn off the Super Bowl during Bad Bunny's performance. He described the decision as a form of protest against large corporations, framing it as a grassroots effort linked to viewership power. In his post, he referred to Bad Bunny as a 'fake American citizen' who publicly hates America, stating that he could not support the halftime show.

Logan Paul responded later that night, distancing himself from his brother's remarks. Writing on X, he said, 'I love my brother but I don't agree with this'. He added that Puerto Ricans are Americans and said he was glad the island had the chance to showcase its talent during the halftime show.

Public Response and Commentary

The comments prompted a response from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. She criticised Jake Paul on Monday, accusing him of moving to Puerto Rico 'to avoid paying your taxes while kids across America go hungry'. She contrasted this with Bad Bunny's funding of arts and sports programmes for low-income children, adding, 'Of course you're mad. He makes you look small.'

Netizens on X also added further commentary, saying things like 'gotta be ragebait. that knockout must've caused permanent brain damage' and 'U support a pedophile and a rapist but a US Citizen who was born in Puerto Rico preforming in the halftime show is where u draw the line'.

Jake Paul Issues Clarification

On Monday morning, Jake Paul attempted to clarify his original comments. He said he was not questioning anyone's actual citizenship status. In a follow-up post, he wrote, 'I wasn't calling anyone a "fake citizen" because they're from Puerto Rico. I live in Puerto Rico, and I love Puerto Rico.'

Jake Paul explained that his remarks were directed at what he described as criticism of recent US Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions. He equated such criticism with 'being a fake citizen', rather than linking it to birthplace or legal status.
