Kate Middleton 'Annoys the Hell' Out of Prince William by Pushing Him to Make Peace With Harry, Source Claims
An unnamed source claims the Princess of Wales wants the brothers to resolve their estrangement despite William's resistance

Catherine, Princess of Wales, is reportedly urging Prince William to reconsider his estrangement from Prince Harry, with an unnamed source claiming her intervention has frustrated her husband. The alleged private discussions have not been independently verified.
The account portrays Catherine as seeking an end to the family's estrangement rather than expecting the brothers to restore their former closeness. Earlier royal commentary offered a different assessment of her role, although those remarks predate the latest report.
Why Kate Middleton Is Reportedly Frustrating Prince William Over Harry Reconciliation
According to an unnamed source quoted by Heat magazine, William has resisted suggestions that he should reconcile with his younger brother, despite the alleged wishes of King Charles III.
'William says Kate is asking him to forgive the unforgivable, and it annoys the hell out of him that she's pushing him to do something he's so against. He's getting enough of that from his father,' the source claimed.
The same account alleges that William shuts down discussions about reconciliation or becomes angry when the subject arises. It portrays Catherine as increasingly unwilling to leave the situation unresolved after previously stepping back.
'Kate did her best to step back and let them work things out on their own, but there's been zero progress, so she's now saying that's just not something she can do long term,' the source said.
The source also claimed that Charles wants greater harmony between his sons but is not forcing William to change his position. Catherine is described as disappointed that her husband has not acted on the King's reported wishes, particularly given his health concerns.
Those descriptions of William's reactions, Catherine's disappointment and Charles's wishes come from the magazine's unnamed source, rather than statements by the family.
What Catherine Allegedly Wants From William
The report presents Catherine's position as a desire for peace rather than a demand that William and Harry become close again.
According to the source, she believes the family should move forward despite past grievances, including Harry's descriptions of her in his memoir, Spare.
'All Kate wants is peace, and she doesn't feel that's an unreasonable request, especially considering a lot of William's anger stems from what was said by Harry and Meghan about her,' the source claimed.
The insider added that Catherine was not suggesting everyone needed to become 'best friends', but believed the estrangement could not continue indefinitely.
The account also alleges that Catherine would not meet Harry behind William's back. Instead, it describes her as voicing her opinion privately while continuing to appear alongside her husband at public engagements.
Why Royal Experts Disagree Over Kate Middleton's Peacemaker Role
In July 2026, royal commentators Richard Fitzwilliams and Helena Chard offered a different assessment while discussing whether Catherine was encouraging William to meet Harry during a UK visit.
Speaking to Fox News Digital in comments subsequently reproduced by The News International, Fitzwilliams said: 'Princess Catherine would support whatever William decided in dealing with his brother.'
Chard similarly said her sources did not believe Catherine was pushing William towards a meeting.
'She isn't pushing for a meeting. She is, however, the one royal who could soften things emotionally, hence the reason Princess Catherine, "the peacemaker", keeps rearing her head,' she said.
Those remarks concerned the prospect of a meeting at that time. They were not responses to the newer report about Catherine's alleged efforts to encourage reconciliation.
An earlier assessment came from Christopher Andersen, author of The King, who told Fox News Digital in October 2024 that Catherine had stopped trying to repair relations between the estranged family members.
'The idea that Kate somehow still has the time and energy to continue playing peacemaker is rubbish,' Andersen said. 'She did try over a period of years and finally threw up her hands in disgust.'
The accounts reflect different sources and periods, rather than a confirmed change in Catherine's position. The private discussions described in the latest report have not been publicly confirmed by the family.
