Mia Goth Files for Divorce From Shia LaBeouf and Seeks Custody of Their Four-Year-Old Daughter
Goth's filing cites 'irreconcilable differences' but does not give a specific reason for the split

Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf more than a year after their separation, asking Los Angeles County Superior Court for primary legal and physical custody of their four-year-old daughter, Isabel. Goth filed the petition on 6 October 2026, citing 'irreconcilable differences' and listing 28 July 2025 as the couple's date of separation.
Mia Goth Seeks Primary Custody of Daughter Isabel
According to court documents, Goth is seeking primary legal and physical custody of the couple's four-year-old daughter, Isabel, who was born in 2022. She is also asking the court to grant LaBeouf visitation rights.
The custody request is a petition to the court and does not mean Goth has been awarded custody. Any final arrangements regarding Isabel will be determined as the divorce proceedings continue. The filing leaves the court to determine the final parenting arrangement after considering both parents' requests and circumstances.
Goth is also asking the court to deny spousal support to both parties, according to the filing.
Goth and LaBeouf Separated in July 2025
The divorce filing gives 28 July 2025 as the date Goth and LaBeouf separated, meaning the couple had been apart for more than a year before she formally filed to end their marriage.
Reports of problems in their relationship emerged publicly before the divorce petition, while LaBeouf later addressed the breakdown of the marriage himself.
The filing cites 'irreconcilable differences' as the legal grounds for the divorce but does not identify a specific incident as the reason their marriage ended.
Couple's Relationship Included a Previous Split
Goth and LaBeouf met while working on Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012 and became a couple. The pair married in 2016 and announced plans to divorce in 2018, although they remained legally married and eventually reunited in 2020. They welcomed their daughter, Isabel, in 2022.
The petition also states that the exact nature and extent of the couple's property and debts are currently unknown, with Goth reserving the right to amend the filing after those matters are fully ascertained.
Shia LaBeouf Previously Addressed Marriage Breakdown
LaBeouf discussed the end of his relationship with Goth during a March 2026 interview with Channel 5's Andrew Callaghan.
The actor said the couple had been 'deeply unhappy' and acknowledged making mistakes in the relationship. He also said he had violated Goth's trust and that their problems were 'impossible' to fix.
Despite their separation, LaBeouf said he still had love and respect for Goth. He also said they were working through how to co-parent their daughter.
Those comments came months before Goth's divorce petition was filed and provide public context about the state of their marriage.
Goth Asks Court To Deny Spousal Support
Alongside her custody request, Goth has asked the court to deny spousal support to both parties. Her filing seeks primary legal and physical custody while asking the court to grant LaBeouf visitation with Isabel.
The divorce petition comes amid other legal developments involving LaBeouf in 2026, including his June guilty plea to three counts of simple battery following an altercation during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. He received suspended six-month sentences on each count and was placed on active probation for two years.
However, Goth's divorce filing does not state that those legal matters caused the marriage to end. The petition identifies 'irreconcilable differences' as the grounds for the divorce.
