Mystery continues to shroud the heinous death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the 14-year-old girl whose dismembered body was found in the front trunk of an impounded Tesla on 8 September 2025. The vehicle was discovered to be registered to David Anthony Burke, also known as D4vd, which is why the 20-year-old is being linked to the teen girl's death.

As of this writing, an investigation into the death of the teenage girl remains ongoing. Despite linking the Tesla back to Burke, the American singer-songwriter has not been formally charged.

However, it was reported by BBC News that Burke is the target of a grand jury investigation into the murder. This means that there is a possibility that D4vd may be subject to proceedings for one count of murder.

Cryptic Post Offers Huge Twist To Teen's Death

In 2024, Burke put up a post on social media saying that he was suffering from writer's block. There were many who responded and offered suggestions. But an uncanny response from an anonymous follower suggested that Burke drop the part about the missing girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

'Drop the one with the missing girl Celeste Rivas Hernandez,' the anonymous follower on Discord posted.

Burke had no reaction to the comment from that follower. However, it was not the case for people looking into the case of the murdered teenager.

Although it initially appeared as a plausible suggestion, the comment drew unexpected attention. In fact, CNN reported that this cryptic response is now being treated as a key piece of evidence, which is one reason Burke has become a target of prosecutors.

The Disturbing Lyrics of Burke

Known to most as a soft-spoken individual, Burke admitted to having a dark alter ego in a March 2025 interview with Mahogany. He referred to it as IT4MI, something he said was inspired by the Japanese word for 'pain.'

Romantic Homicide, the song that launched Burke to stardom in 2022, included lyrics that have now drawn attention. One of them was: 'In the back of my mind I killed you and I didn't even regret it.' Aside from that, the video also included violent images of a young, dark-haired woman's dead body along with knives.

In another song, One More Dance, a music video shows Burke's alter ego dragging his own body to the trunk of a car. That scene easily caught the eye of his fans, who have since associated it with Hernandez.

The lyrics may appear disturbing, although it remains unclear if they were referencing the 14-year-old. No formal charges have been made, although all this could change moving forward.

What is only known is that Hernandez was reportedly seen around Burke when she was only 13. That included sightings of Celeste around David in one of his livestream videos that was shot from inside a West Hollywood home.

Other instances include photos of Hernandez backstage at Burke's sold-out show held at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles in June 2024. This was two months after she ran away from home. It was also about a month after the teenager last spoke to her family, according to a report by ABC 7.

From that backstage photo, the timeline that followed remains unclear. Los Angeles Magazine reported that Hernandez was still seen alive in surveillance footage and digital evidence in September 2024 and January 2025. The months that followed remain unknown.

An autopsy on Hernandez's body was reportedly done, but the results remain confidential. Burke has not been charged with anything for now. But if being a target of the grand jury is any indication, something is bound to change moving forward.
