Natalie Harp and Donald Trump stepped out at the White House in strikingly similar white outfits on Monday afternoon, shortly before the former president departed for a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio. The images, taken on the South Lawn, have since drawn scrutiny online and in parts of the press.

Trump was due to speak that evening in support of Ohio Republicans. He is backing Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, who is expected to face Democratic former Sen. Sherrod Brown, and Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who is set to take on Democrat Amy Acton.

What Natalie Harp, Donald Trump Wore

Both Natalie Harp and Donald Trump wore white caps and white collared tops. Trump's was a polo shirt, while Harp wore a jacket with black lining. The president's trousers were black slacks. Harp's were not visible in the frame.

The outfits were similar but not identical. Trump's cap appears to be a MAGA hat. Harp's cap carries a single logo that is barely visible on the front.

Harp is smiling in the photographs. Her eyes are shaded by the cap brim. The Irish Star described her smile as 'creepy', describing this as its own characterisation.

A person smiling under a cap in bright sunlight, photographed mid-moment by a press camera, is not, in itself, evidence of any wider conclusion.

Why Harp Is Under Scrutiny

Harp has been a visible presence at recent Trump events. According to the Irish Star's report, she travelled with him to a rally in Texas, where the president brought her on stage. The report said this was to address rumours about their working relationship. It did not say what those rumours were, and IBTimes UK cannot independently verify the claims.

The White House has not been quoted on the outfits in the material reviewed for this article. No direct quotes from Trump or Harp about the photographs are available, so any such wording would be Unverified.

A coordinated wardrobe is not, by itself, typically news. Set against questions the president has already addressed in public, however, it has become a talking point.

Will Harp Join Trump in Youngstown?

It was not immediately clear on Monday whether Harp would travel to the Ohio rally. She has joined him at recent ones.

The White House had not released an official list of attendees for the event by Monday afternoon, and no travel schedule for Harp had been made public. Social media posts from accounts that follow Trump's campaign activity had also not confirmed her presence.

The Youngstown event is Trump's second visit to the state in 10 days. The Irish Star reported that his approval ratings were falling and cited polls showing a nine-point Democratic lead nationally. It did not name the pollster or the survey dates, so the figure needs treating with caution until the primary polling is checked.

Lines outside the Covelli Centre grew long on Monday afternoon. Many people were standing for hours for the chance to see the president in person.

Those interviewed by local broadcaster WTOV9 raised worries about the economy, along with several other issues linked directly to Trump. Trump is expected to speak at 7 p.m.
