Donald Trump's praise of longtime aide Natalie Harp as a 'perfect person' at a Nebraska rally on 5 October has prompted criticism from some viewers, who saw the remark as disrespectful to his wife, Melania Trump.

The 35-year-old aide was called on stage to hand the former president an executive order aimed at lowering diesel costs, a high-profile moment that added to earlier scrutiny of her access to him and the personal letters attributed to her.

Donald Trump's Praise Draws Criticism

'And I'd like to ask Natalie to come out. Natalie, come out, bring it out now, Natalie. Bring it out, I'll sign it right here,' Trump told the crowd, according to the Irish Star account cited by The Blast.

After she delivered the document, he compared the moment to The Price Is Right and joked about a television show centred on the exchange.

Much of the online reaction focused on his familiar manner towards Harp rather than the order's purpose. One X user wrote, 'No matter what one thinks of Melania Trump, this is such a cheap display of disrespect.'

MS NOW's Lawrence O'Donnell also commented that the president had 'never said those three words about the current Mrs. Donald Trump.' Another viewer accused Harp of 'feeding his insatiable ego' by ensuring favourable information reached him.

Those comments represent viewers' interpretations of the exchange. The reporting provides no substantial evidence of a romantic relationship between Trump and Harp.

Questions Over Harp's Access to Donald Trump

Earlier scrutiny included an August appearance by Harp's brother, Preston Harp, on CNN's OutFront. Host Erin Burnett recounted allegations about an October 2023 journey from Trump Tower to a court appearance in Lower Manhattan.

Burnett described a dispute over seating in the departing motorcade. Harp allegedly insisted Trump had personally requested her attendance, despite there being no space for her.

CNN's sources claimed she climbed into a vehicle's boot area to accompany him. Preston initially laughed, telling Burnett, 'That's really funny. I didn't even know about that.'

His response became more serious when Burnett sought his assessment. He described the alleged incident as sad and characterised such conduct as 'an unhealthy obsession' if the account was true.

The Letters Addressed to Donald Trump

The reporting also cited letters attributed to Harp from 2023. In messages reported by Yahoo, she described Trump as her 'Guardian and Protector in this Life.'

'You are all that matters to me,' she wrote in one letter, according to Yahoo. 'I don't ever want to let you down.'

Another letter recalled conversations during her television career, when they would 'talk about everything and nothing.' She wrote that she missed their earlier connection and wanted to return to that 'synergy' instead of discussing work constantly.

The letters' personal language has prompted speculation, but does not establish a romance.

Separately, Melania praised her husband's work ethic in a Fox & Friends interview. Political commentator David Pakman questioned her account, claiming the couple were 'basically estranged.' He suggested they mostly lived separately, although the report does not substantiate those living arrangements.

In the interview, Melania described Trump as highly focused and working from morning until evening, with considerable demands on his time.
