Oregon police have arrested a teacher after she was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Andrea Nicole Barber was arrested on Friday (15 December) at her home in Cottage Grove, Oregon, days after her husband found out about her alleged illicit affair. Barber's husband told Child Protective Services (CPS) that he caught his wife and the teen in the home, partially unclothed.

He also said that he found some topless photos of his wife that had been sent to the teen through text message, The Register-Guard reported.

However, the investigators first got to know about the alleged affair through the student's parents who claimed they received an anonymous email asking whether they knew about their teenage son's alleged sexual relationship with Barber.

Attached to the mail were several photos of Barber and the boy in bed together, the Daily Mail reported.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that Barber's husband had also contacted CPS about the alleged affair.

The 29-year-old teacher was working at Springfield Christian School, where she taught language and literature, writing II and speech communication. She reportedly began the relationship with the boy in 2016 when he was just 15.

An affidavit filed against the woman stated that the boy had told investigators they started with flirting at school, kissing at the movies and ultimately progressed to sexual acts. He also alleged that she had occasionally given him marijuana and alcohol.

Barber has now been charged with third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy, contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor, first-degree online sexual corruption of a minor and unlawful delivery of marijuana to a person under 18 years of age.

She is being held on $456,250 (£341,151) bail at Douglas County Jail and it was not immediately clear whether she entered a plea.

Meanwhile, Lt Chris Merrifield of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said that Barber no longer works at Springfield Christian School, but she still features on the school's online staff directory.

According to the website, she lives with her husband, a dog and a cat. "Andrea has always felt called to work with youth and is very excited that God opened the door for her to be part of the Logos team," her biography on the website stated.
