Sony's new flagship smartphone, Xperia Z1 unveiled on 4 September at the IFA 2013 event in Berlin, is now available for purchase in the UK.

Following the official announcement, several major retailers as well as network operators in the UK have confirmed pre-order for Xperia Z1. Some retailers such as Clove, Handtec and Digital Phone Company have confirmed that Sony's new handset is in stock now.

Clove UK has announced the availability of the Xperia Z1.

Clove UK is selling the SIM-free and unlocked 16GB version of Xperia Z1 at a suggested retail price of £564 including VAT. The offer also includes SmartWatch 2 and £110 Sony content with the Xperia Z1.

Handtec is also stocking the Xperai Z1, which costs £557.99. Besides, consumers can buy the handset from Digital Phone Company by paying £549.99 (including VAT).

The retailers have only the black variant of Xperia Z1 in stock. Clove UK notes that the white model is expected on 23 September. Other retailer and operators are yet to confirm the availability of the handset.

Featuring a 5in full HD TRILUMINOS display for mobile with X-Reality for mobile picture engine, the Xperia Z1 sports screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of box. One of the key features of the handset is its 20.7 megapixel camera, which uses the award-winning G Lens along with BIONZ for mobile image processing engine with algorithm from Sony's digital compact cameras. It ensures pictures have less noise, fast auto-focus as well as high stable images for video shooting while preventing shots from being blurred. The Xperia Z1 is dust and water resistant with IP code ratings of IP55 and IP58.
