Arsenal target Marvin Martin has ruled out a January switch to the Emirates and is insisting he has no plans to leave France this season.

The Sochaux midfielder was linked with Arsenal throughout the summer following the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

"I will not leave this winter. I have started this season for Sochaux and I will finish the season in Sochaux," he said.

"That is clear and I have discussed it with the management here. I'm not one to leave halfway through a season."

It's not all doom and gloom for Mr Wenger this morning, with news that Udinese winger Gabriel Torje is on the club's radar.

Dubbed the "Romanian Messi" by newspapers in his homeland, Torje moved to the Italian side from Dynamo Bucharest for £500,000 last summer but is likely to command a significantly inflated fee should Arsenal express an interest.

In west London, Chelsea are set to finance a move for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin by offloading Brazilian defender Alex to one of Arsenal, Spurs or Anzhi Makhachkala.

Former boss Carlo Ancelotti had a £15m bid rejected for Godin in January, according to the Sun.

Meanwhile, reports from the nether regions of the footballing landscape suggest Arsenal are weighing up a "shock move" for Chelsea's Didier Drogba. File under unlikely.

Rounding out today's rumours: Aston Villa are tracking Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson; Sunderland have joined West Brom and Liverpool in the "race" for Swedish stiker Ola Toivonen; and Chelsea are keen on £30m-rated Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia.

Finally, Liverpool target Aly Cissokho is set to stay at Lyon, ending months of speculation linking him with Anfield.
