ADÉLA surpasses KATSEYE
ADÉLA considers her elimination from 'Pop Star Academy,' the training and competition show that created KATSEYE, a 'blessing in disguise' Instagram/adelajergova

Adéla Jergová was prominently featured in the Netflix docuseries 'Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE.' So, it was a surprise when she was eliminated from the competition to form a new girl group, which involved fan voting.

While saddened by her elimination, the singer, now professionally known as ADÉLA, called the experience a 'blessing in disguise' in a 2025 Rolling Stone feature. The payoff is even more striking now as she has surpassed KATSEYE in monthly Spotify listeners.

ADÉLA's Growing Spotify Subscribers

The 22-year-old Slovak singer has 34.7 million monthly Spotify listeners, as of this writing, compared with KATSEYE's 33.9 million. KATSEYE comprises Lara Raj, Daniela Avanzini, Yoonchae Jeung, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman. Laforteza is expected to return in January 2027, while Bannerman remains on hiatus without a confirmed return date.

ADÉLA's songs have also outperformed KATSEYE's on some charts. Her song 'Ain't in LA' reached No. 3 on the Spotify Global Chart, while KATSEYE's 'Animal' peaked at No. 5, according to the figures cited.

On the Billboard Hot 100, ADÉLA's viral song 'Nicole Kidman' reached No. 11, surpassing KATSEYE's peak of No. 21 with 'Gabriela.' She also became the first Slovak artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

What To Know About ADÉLA

The pop star was born in Bratislava, Slovakia. She began taking ballet lessons in Moscow, Russia, when she was three years old. She wanted to become a singer after she started watching 'Hannah Montana,' the sitcom starring Miley Cyrus.

Her interest in American singers led her to learn English by watching their interviews. She became fluent in the language at just nine years old, according to biographical accounts.

All the while, ADÉLA continued her ballet lessons. She joined the Vienna State Ballet as a teenager before moving to London to attend the English National Ballet School. Her ballet background helped her consistently rank among the top four dancers during the academy's internal evaluations, earning her high praise from instructors.

She also consistently ranked among the top four in overall performance, which included vocals and personality. Such talent and charm laid the groundwork for her breakthrough as a solo artist, leading to her viral success and growing chart presence.

Solo Success

Despite her growing music career and fanbase, there appears to be no rivalry with KATSEYE. In fact, members Raj and Skiendiel were recently seen in the audience at ADÉLA's concert in Los Angeles, as part of her sold-out Red Bottoms Tour. They were joined by fellow 'Dream Academy' alum Emily Kelavos.

ADÉLA released her first solo single, 'Homewrecked,' in 2024 as an independent artist. She followed it up with 'Superscar.' Capitol Records later signed the singer, who released her debut EP, 'The Provocateur,' in 2025.

In April 2026, ADÉLA joined Demi Lovato on her 'It's Not That Deep Tour' as the opening act. On 4 September 2026, she released her debut album, 'PRIMA.'

She is currently on her Red Bottoms Tour, which is scheduled to continue into January 2027. Although the tour does not include arena shows, ADÉLA said they are part of her future plans: 'I'm excited to do arenas one day. I am a showgirl at heart.'
