Anna Faris Returns to 'Scary Movie'—Will the Fab Four Bring Back the Franchise's Magic?
Two decades after their last scream-filled adventure, Anna Faris and the original cast are reuniting—fans are buzzing if the magic can strike twice.

It has been two decades since we last saw Cindy sprinting from masked killers, dodging outrageous plot twists, and screaming her way through the most absurd horror spoofs imaginable.
Now, in a move sparking both nostalgia and excitement, Anna Faris is officially returning for the next instalment of the Scary Movie franchise. And she is not alone: the original creators, the Wayans brothers, are reuniting to write a brand-new chapter.
Could this be the comeback that reignites the franchise's cult magic?
The Fab Four Reunite
The comedy-horror series that once made us howl with laughter (and maybe squirm a little in fear) is gearing up for a massive return. Fans can expect outrageous gags, new chaos, and familiar faces they never thought they would see again. The countdown to 12 June 2026 has already begun.
According to BBC News, Faris will reprise her role as the perpetually bewildered Cindy alongside Regina Hall as Brenda, the hilariously unbothered best friend.
Marlon Wayans confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a throwback photo from the first film and writing: 'The fab four is back. So excited to work and reunite with these two brilliant women.'
In a joint statement, Faris and Hall teased: 'We can't wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we'd literally die for (in Brenda's case, again).' That line alone captures the trademark Scary Movie humour.
Behind the Comeback
This isn't just another sequel. Scary Movie 6 will be the first film in nearly 18 years that Keenen Ivory, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans are scripting together, joined by long-time collaborator Rick Alvarez.
Filming begins in October, with Paramount confirming a worldwide release on 12 June 2026.
The franchise's legacy is impressive. Across five films, Scary Movie has earned close to $900 million globally. The 2000 original shattered records for R-rated horror comedies, raking in $42.5 million during its opening weekend. It was more than parody; it became a cultural moment.
With Miramax executives Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, and Thomas Zadra producing, the reboot appears to balance nostalgia with fresh ambition.
Where Have They Been?
Since her Scary Movie days, Anna Faris has enjoyed a diverse career, starring in The House Bunny, Lost in Translation, and Mom, as well as publishing her bestselling memoir Unqualified.
Regina Hall has built an equally impressive résumé, headlining films like Girls Trip and Think Like a Man while earning acclaim in television drama.
The Wayans brothers, meanwhile, may have stayed busy with other projects, but their return to the franchise they launched feels like a true homecoming. Keenen Ivory directed the first two films, while Marlon and Shawn co-wrote and starred, shaping the series' unique blend of slapstick, satire, and chaos.

Can They Recapture the Magic?
The real question is whether Scary Movie can still land the laughs in today's comedy climate, where humour is riskier and audiences are harder to please. Fans are optimistic. Social media lit up after the announcement, with one user declaring: 'If Brenda and Cindy are back, we're all back.'
Between Faris and Hall's undeniable comedic chemistry, the Wayans' fearless writing, and a cultural landscape brimming with parody-worthy material (from true-crime obsessions to prestige horror), the odds look good.
Come June 2026, we'll see if this Fab Four can turn nostalgia into another box office scream. One thing is certain: no one runs from danger—or straight into absurdity—quite like Cindy and Brenda.
