Kelly Rowland will no doubt be spoiled with presents and love today (11 February), as the former Destiny's Child star celebrates her 35th birthday. With a successful career, husband and adorable son, Rowland has enjoyed enough life experiences to share some words of wisdom with the rest of us.

The Motivation singer shot to fame as a singer in r'n'b collective Destiny's Child, alongside Beyonce and later Michelle Williams, who joined the final line-up. The chart-toppers became one of the most successful girl groups in history with three top 10 albums, four number one singles on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and more than 60 million records sold worldwide.

As the hype of the Spice Girls began to settle, Destiny's Child became the pinnacle of girl power in the late 1990s and early noughties with empowering tracks such as Survivor, Bills, Bills, Bills and Independent Women Part One dominating the airwaves. When the group disbanded Rowland enjoyed success as a solo artist with singles including When Love Takes Over, Dilemma and Motivation, while she also had a judging stint on singing competition The X Factor in the UK.

Rowland's personal life has also gone from strength to strength with the singer tying the knot with music manager Tim Witherspoon in May 2014. Six months later, the couple welcomed their first child together when Rowland gave birth to son Titan in November 2014. Gushing over motherhood, the Grammy winner told ET Online: "It has been amazing to be completely honest. It has changed my life in the most beautiful way. I love being a mom."

In celebration of her 35th birthday, IBTimes UK shares some words of inspiration from Rowland through the years.
