The former lover of Tulisa Contostavlos has appeared in court to defend himself over claims that he leaked a sex tape starring the X Factor judge.

Rapper Justin "MC Ultra" Edwards appeared at the private hearing where Contostavlos was asking for an injunction preventing the video being seen to be extended.

Contostavlos found herself at the centre of a sex tape scandal when the seven-minute clip, showing her performing a sexual act on a man, hit the internet.

After initially denying that it was her in the clip, the 23-year N-Dubz star was forced to confess in a video apology to fans.

Dressed in a black suit and grey shirt, Edwards told the high court that he did not leak the video.

His appearance follows reports that the singer was seeking damages for up to £100,000 against him for humiliation caused by the leak.

Legal papers have been served at a house in West Hampstead, London, where Edwards lives with his mother.

Contostavlos has called in her legal team to ensure that the explicit tape is prohibited from being shown again.

Her emergency injunction prohibits anyone from using, publishing or communicating or disclosing to any other person all or any part of the film.
