Oscar-winning actor/director Clint Eastwood has reportedly split from wife Dina Ruiz, after 17 years together.

According to Us Weekly, the couple have been separated for over a year.

"Clint fell out of love with Dina a long time ago," a source said, adding that the split was "amicable".

The Gran Torino actor's manager, Leonard Hirshan, told E! Online that he "knows nothing about this

"Clint is shooting a picture right now, unavailable to reach, he doesn't have a press agent and that's all I can tell you."

The 48-year-old former TV news anchor met the Dirty Harry star in 1993, when she interviewed him. They were married in 1996 and have a 16-year-old daughter, Morgan. The two have not been photographed together in public since 2011.

Eastwood was previously married to Maggie Johnson, a former swimwear model, from 1953 to 1984, and together they had a son, Kyle, and a daughter, Alison.

Ruiz and Morgan appeared on E! reality series Mrs Eastwood & Company, which ran for one season in 2012. The show also featured Francesca, who is Eastwood's daughter from his relationship with Titanic actress Frances Fisher.

In an interview with Esquire in 2008, the Million Dollar Baby director praised Ruiz and credited her with uniting all his eight children and their mothers as one big family.

"I have children by other women. I gotta give Dina the credit for bringing everyone together," he said, "She never had the ego thing of the second wife. The natural instinct might have been to kill off everybody else. You know, the cavewoman mentality. But she brought everybody together. She's friendly with my first wife, friendly to former girlfriends. She went out of her way to unite everybody. She's been extremely influential in my life."

Earlier this year, Ruiz was reported entering rehab for depression and anxiety.
